Nebraska Cosmetology Licensing Requirements
Nebraska: The Cornhusker State
If you are interested in getting your Nebraska cosmetology license or
other beauty license, below is all the information you need to know
about getting licensed in the Cornhusker State!
Licenses Available:
Cosmetologist
Esthetician
Electrologist
Nail Technician
Required Hours:
Cosmetology: 2100 Beauty School Hours
Esthetician: 600 Esthetics School Hours
Electrologist: 600 Electrolysis Training Hours
Nail Technician: 300 Nail School Hours
License Requirements:
Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have completed a basic first aid class.
Reciprocity:
Granted to those applicants who have completed the equivalent or greater than the hours required by Nebraska and have passed a written and practical exam. Additional credit for work experience may be considered.
Renewal:
Nebraska requires eight (8) hours of Continuing Education in order to
renew one's license. Four (4) of the eight hours must be Board
approved, be related to Cosmetology, and cannot be home study courses.
The other four hours do not need to be Board approved, and can be home
study courses. To renew your NE license, the following are required:
- Renewal form
- Fee
- Proof of continuing education hour
