Wyoming Nail Training Requirements
Wyoming is the least populated state in the nation, yet it is dominated by the tourism industry. It is home to such hot spots as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and the swanky celebrity enclave and ski resort of Jackson Hole. This unique combination of wide open space and high-end employment may make Wyoming an ideal place to begin a career as a nail technician. The Wyoming Board of Cosmetology requires nail certification candidates be at least 16 years old and to have completed the 10th grade. They then must spend 400 hours at a nail tech school learning the art of manicures, pedicures, the current trends in the application of artificial nails and nail art. Wyoming nail tech students must also take at least 10 hours in a Wyoming Law course
WY Nail Technician Salary & Job Opportunities
Many nail techs are employed in the tourism, hospitality, hotel and resort industries. Some cities allow manicurists to operate nail salons out of their own homes. Mobile nail salons are also allowed, and owning such a business allows nail techs to travel the open roads throughout the state to provide services in client homes. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported only 50 nail technicians were licensed in Wyoming in 2010. This may leave plenty of room for a talented and creative manicurist to thrive. Statewide annual salaries for nail techs in Wyoming average approximately $19,640 before tips.
