They can complete an approved nail tech school of at least 300 hours, where they will learn the basics of working on nails, hands and feet. Alternatively, a student can complete 600 hours as an apprentice to a licensed and experienced nail technician. They will learn the same skills as a student at the schools will experience. New Hampshire requires students become certified in the use of nail drills, and allows on certain drill bits to be used. Both types of students will then need to pass the written and practical exams administered by the New Hampshire Board of Barbering, Cosmetology and Esthetics.

A nail technician in New Hampshire can earn an average annual salary of approximately $21,810 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Licensed nail technicians will continue to learn new skills, such as nail art and specialized nail wraps. They can work in spas, resorts, hotels, salons, or in their own home salon. A nail tech must have one year of work experience to rent a booth at a facility.
