NH Makeup Artist Training & License Requirements

The New Hampshire State Board of Barbering, Cosmetology & Esthetics offers two paths to licensure. Students can attend beauty school for 1500 hours to be a cosmetologist or 600 hours to be an esthetician. Alternately, students can study under licensed professionals in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice cosmetologists work 3000 hours in their program, and apprentice estheticians work for 1200 hours in their program. Students also must pass Board written and practical exams.
