Required Hours:
Barber: 1500 Barber School Hours
Cosmetologist: 1500 Beauty School Hours
Hair Braider: 170 Beauty School Hours
Nail Technician: 150 Nail School Hours
Wax Technician: 150 Beauty School Hours
License Requirements:
No minimum age or education requirements on file.
Reciprocity:
Granted to applicants who have completed the same amount of hours as required by Virginia. Work experience will be considered for applicants who have worked in the field six months or more. Licensed barbers who have been licensed for two years may sit for the cosmetology exam without further training.
Renewal:
Virginia does not require continuing education hours for cosmetology license renewal. To renew your cosmetology license in Virginia, the following must be submitted to the VA cosmetology board:
