Licenses Available:
Cosmetologist
Electrologist
Esthetician
Hair Designer
Manicurist
Natural Hair Stylist
Required Hours:
Cosmetologist: 1500 Beauty School Hours
Electrologist: 600 Electrolysis Training Hours
Esthetician: 600 Esthetics Training Hours
Hair Designer: 1200 Cosmetology School Hours
Manicurist: 200 Nail School Hours
Natural Hair Stylist: 450 Hair School Hours
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must have at least a 10th grade education.
Reciprocity:
Ohio grants reciprocity to applicants with current licenses from other states that have substantially equal or greater requirements. Also, applicants with five years of work experience or licensed in states with written reciprocity agreements with Ohio may qualify. Applicants with five years of experience are eligible after passing the Ohio Manager's Exam.
Renewal:
Ohio cosmetology licenses are valid for two years. The state requires eight hours of continuing education per renewal period in order to keep the license current. To renew your license in Ohio, the following are due to the OH cosmetology board:

- Proof of continuing education hours
