Licenses Available:
Barber
Cosmetology
Electrologist
Esthetician
Manicurist / Nail Technologist
Shampooer
Required Hours:
Barber: 1500 Hours
Cosmetologist: 1500 Hours
Electrologist: 300 Hours + 1500 Hours "Beauty Culture" course, or 700 hours Esthetics Course + License
Esthetician: 700 Hours
Manicurist / Nail Technologist: 450 Hours
Shampooer: 300 Hours
License Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have at least 10th grade education or equivalent.
Reciprocity:
Applicants that have been licensed as a cosmetologist in another state may obtain a license in the state of Indiana as long as the state they are originally licensed in has requirements equal to or greater than those of Indiana.
Renewal:
Indiana cosmetology licenses expire every four years. To renew your license in Illinois, the following must be provided to the IL cosmetology board:
- Renewal form
- Fee
- Proof of continuing education hours
